Halloween? what to be?

Halloween is coming up soon and unlike last year, I would like to plan in advance so I can sew my costume. So, anyone have an awesome idea for my halloween costume? I must decide soon so I have time to sew it! So far I have come up with a few ideas listed below Please either help me decide on one my ideas, or  let me know if you have any awesome ideas. Thank you!

1) Gothic Mummy- White tattered dress with black accents and dark eye make-up and red lips
2) Oragami- 3 D dress of random shapes
3) Flower Garden- Super colorful dress made out of flowers that I create with fabric
4) Fun Fetti- lots of colors, prints, confetti like dress with random party objects sewn to the dress
5) 80's Zombie
6) Rock n roll angel- shreads of white fabric sewn together to create a pretty but edgy dress, with rocker elements added, such as studs and funky hair and make-up
7) News paper- Try to snatch a few stacks of AM's without anyone noticing and make a piece of wearable
art out of the news.

My dress form has been naked for a long time

Time I start sewing! My dress form Ms. PGM has been naked far too long, and she is ready to rock some awesome style! I am going to be tearing through all of my old fabric, clothes, trims, and hope to be sewing in a few more weeks! My idea is to design a dress for this awesome girl Alynn who is a singer/song writer with much talent. I hope to take her measurements soon and show her some of my design ideas and create something that
suits her personal style. :)

So... this is the plan man!

I plan on custom designing original pieces for you! I want to provide people with unique clothing that reflects
their personality and individuality. I am open to collaborating your ideas with my creative eye and skill to create a work of wearable art :)

I always find shopping a bit frustrating, because what I see in my head and what is available in stores to purchase doesn't quite line up. You may deal with this too. Back in high school I used to go thrift shopping to find unique pieces. Then I would often cut them apart and sew pieces of one T shirt  to another or paint designs on plain T shirts. I just wanted to do my own thing rather than follow celebrity fashion or trends.

I do look to other designers for inspiration, but I am more likely to grasp ideas from my surroundings and interpret them into clothing. One of my past creations was a belt made out of a variety of candy wrappers that I had collected off of the street and recycled into a wearable accessory. Used some duct tape, packaging tape and velcro to put that together, and people thought is was awesome! I also made a belt out of bar codes. One time a friend told me I should go through the self check out line at a grocery store and scan my belt to see how much it was worth. haha... fun memories of my past creations. I am looking forward to what is to come and I hope you are too!

Favorite Fashion Icons

1) David Bowie- Yeah, he is one of a kind that's for sure! I love Bowie's sense of style... androgynous, flamboyant, shocking, rockin, and glam. He even has a song titled "fashion" on his Scary Monsters album.
He styles loud colors, intricate and whimsical prints, unique silhouettes, metallics, body suits, body paint/make-up, and funky hair!

Chorus:
Fashion! Turn to the left
Fashion! Turn to the right
Oooh, fashion!
We are the goon squad
and we're coming to town
Beep-beep
Beep-beep

2) Pink! I admire pink for not following other female pop artist and just doing her own thing. She is rockin, with a touch of feminine style. I love how she comes off as a rebel with attitude with her short funky pink hair and her strong personality and expression through her music. She can pull off the tomboy look with the wife beater and baggy pants as well as look sexy with short shorts and leather boots. I would have to say her hair
is one of her most unique and defining features, even when it is constantly changing color and style.

Fashion is my Passion

What is fashion to me?

I view fashion as art, creativity, and expression. Fashion is constantly evolving and it is interesting to me to see how trends change over time, and even how past styles come back around. The passion to design and create was in me since I was a child, and I will continue to live my dream in this amazing city where there is so much to gain inspiration from!

Fashion excites me because I love to translate my inspirations into actual creations for other people to wear and love! I am inspired by my surroundings and the people I meet. I look to street art, archetecture, music, culture, and other random things for inspiration. I recycle old clothing from thrift stores and clothes that I no longer wear by cutting them apart, combining other fabrics and prints, then sew the pieces to create a new design. Sometimes I sketch several ideas before working on a garment, while other times I am more experimental by randomly cutting, pinning, and sewing. I would describe my design style as urban, geometric,
edgy, asymmetric, and wearable.

I love connecting with musicians and artists, and I hope to design specifically for them. I want people to feel awesome wearing my designs: confident, unique, edgy, beautiful, and comfortable in the clothing I create. I also want people to understand my inspiration behind the design because I believe there is more to just wearing clothing. When I look at designers collections, I am able to appreciate their art, but even more so when I understand the inspiration behind the design. Just like music, you can listen to a song and love it, but may not really understand the true meaning. Concept behind creation is important. I hope to not only create clothing people will love to wear, but also inspire them to continue their own creative passions such as music, art, etc.
